Imagine THIS........Company with NCIB bought back all shares exept 100,000 shares.... Which you own.  There's 100,000 Short.  

Company decides to REDEEM....

Shorts are F@#$....... You name your price.    $30....$100......$1000/share????

I don't know how it will work, just imagining things.
