It burns me no end that the west finances so much of the equalization payments sent Quebec's way. They should grow up and be part of Canada. Our oil would be cheaper for their drivers if only they would allow a pipeline to be built there. It would also save on oil to transport the oil by ship as well as save the whales. Maybe they think western oil speaks English while Saudi oil is in a different but more desirable script.  Now I'm going to get removed.

Ooooh!....LOTS to unpack there!!!
Quebec does NOT import Saudi oil! Can be be clear on THAT one ! Large multinational oil companies source/buy crude oil from wherever given PRICE, QUALITY AND LOGISTIC considerations to feed their refineries located in QC. Irving Oil in NEW BRUNSWICK has been importing Saudi oil to feed Canada's largest refinery since the 1960s. Currently it is one third of their feedstock.

CANADA, you and me, just finished building an oil pipeline to the west coast...I don't think there is any appetite for building another one FIVE TIMES longer to the east coast to replace 800k barrels a day of imports....IF the refineries would even buy it considering price/quality considerations compared to the status quo.

The "WEST" does NOT "finance so much equalization payments sent QC's way"...ALL Canadian taxpayers pay fed. income tax at the very same rates. Out of that pool of money some of it reserved to be distributed to provinces so that all provinces can deliver roughly the same social programs wherever Canadians happen to live or move to. Methinks YOU are the one who should "grow up and be part of Canada"....or not, you decide! I'm in BC, we don't get EQ payments, we don't spend all our waking hours bellyaching about it.

The EQ, by law, gets reviewed and maybe adjusted every five years...Harper didn't changed it much, neither did Trudeau....maybe you should run for office!
