RE:RE:RE:RE:Jeff Speaks about the Water DisputeThe Water District objective is not to stop Sage Ranch. The Water District is working to have the City work within an attainable growth rate that will ensure there is the properly allocated water availbility for all of its customers.
Once again the "bull in a china shop" attitude has come back to haunt GRB shareholders.
In order to provide all the services the City feels they need requires building the tax base. And their simple solution is to expand via population growth.
I don't believe the WD disagrees but it must be at a sustainable rate.
Plain and simple.
The fourth cause of action appearing to be going to civil trial could likely lead to a long drawn out process. Especially if the parties can't come to terms on the growth rate. Having the judge side his decision so decisively towards the Water District places the City in a very difficult position.
The Alta Estates subdivision (after over twenty years), where KHovanian is currently building, is now just about 60% complete. The Address was another approved tract, Capital Hills and numerous smaller tracts have been approved and not yet built. Does the City need another thousand homes to not be built. There is apparently also (200) apartments approved (according to Jeff) if they need smaller, more sustainable living accomodations.
Obviously this is merely my personal opinion but the City should be waiting for previous development approvals to be completed before opening up more.
Besides the fact this is very bad economics for the already established tracts to infill and close out.
Housing diversity is available it merely needs to be built.
Cities don't build houses, economics do.
