VGCX mine damage could be bandaided and repaired but...the question is, does the government, First Nations and institutional investors want too?  First your probably going to run out of money and whose money?

With all the negative publicy it sort of rips the heart out of the mine as the perceptions and optics will hang around for decades even after the ine is exhausted when it goes into maintenance mode.

As to repair physically I believe it could be accomplished but the expense and time will probably outway any economic benefit.  Needs some " Boots and Coots"  types along with some engineers to  run the numbers.  (it's what they do) :)

Think

Dewatering process above the remainig escarmpment

Much later

Take the following as all questions.

Sheet piles from the sides (massive undertaking)
Shotcrete from boom mounted equipment
Then rock bolts to stabilize
Rebuild berms as the repair goes along

Now you've got a bandaid, but unfortunately it not self healing and you've still got the possibility of ground water and surface polution in the stewart and McQuesten...

Now for a final thought on the collapse is ot [ossible that the mine it'seft add to the collapse and repeated blasting?  The tremours can carry quite a distance below ground and would the sensors have picked up this if is slowing became unstable over time.

Just saying

All thoughts and comments welcome.

Best.
