RE:New Agoracom Interview on HPQ Silicon

RE:New Agoracom Interview on HPQ Silicon Thanks to @ordos for this:

@ordos My notes the latest interview:

- Just before the interview Bernard was on a call with established and experienced battery / graphite industry players (20+ years in the industry) and they are very impressed, especially given that HPQ Silicon publishes detailed results and it is easy to understand how well they are positioned in the industry
- HPQ Silicon / Novacium were and are so confident in their knowledge of what they are doing that they went directly testing with 18650 batteries, not half cells (which have unlimited supply of / continuously fed lithium, which is not objective, detached from real world applications)
- Many of the "great results" related to batteries published by PhDs from universities, funded by governments, etc end up not having commercial viability. HPQ Silicon's R&D approach was always targeted at real world commercial applicability
- NDAs are with companies that range from start-ups to Evonik sized companies. The latter take longer to sign NDAs because they have more red tape and are slower with documents. There are more NDAs than 15, that's the minimum, and only based on the 300 cycle results
- Market surveillance approved "unmatched capacity and durability" claim in the NR
- For a smartphone 500 cycles is equivalent to 2 years lifetime
- Industry players are impressed with the smooth degradation trend similar to pure graphite
- HPQ Silicon / Novacium's own pure graphite anode reference battery is better than commercial best performant 18650 graphite batteries
- Real life application demonstrated with military radio unit, literally plugged in Novacium batteries and got 33% more capacity
- Hydrogen generator. In discussions with industrial groups about scaling it up
- Similar to fumed silica when HPQ Silicon produced A150 commercial grade fumed silica at lab scale, they knew they could do A300 at lab scale too, but then it is still lab scale, so they prioritized the fumed silica pilot plant, then do the adjustments to go up to A300. The same approach they are taking with SiOx battery anode material, Gen3 is good enough to go to pilot scale, and in parallel they will continue with Gen3+ / Gen4 development
- We want to see the maximum now, so it is very likely that Gen3 will be tested to 1,000 cycles
- Commercialization for SiOx could take up to 24 months. The fact that discussions are with different types of organizations and different approaches to commercialization, it could happen sooner than 24 months, the negotiations are very fluid in terms of structure / approach, in a good way
- Entering into partnerships is possible much sooner
- HPQ Silicon is working very aggressively on the projects and everything is moving in the right direction
