RE:RE:RE:RE:Tunnel under the 401 ? C'mon Gentlemen, a cockamammie pre-election spiel by Doug Ford doesn't become any less so just because it was first pitched by John Beck. Was Aecon that desperate for contracts in '19?
The province is drowning in accumulated debt ($430B) compounded by incessant sequential annual deficits ($6.6B). It's two major expense ministries, Health & Education, are crumbling. Universities and colleges are shuttering departments & even campuses now that the foreign student goose has been slaughtered. Medical professionals were scarce to begin with and some are leaving in droves. Hospital EDs park their patients in corridors for days. Elective procedures are wait-listed for months if not years. Last time I was in an admitting ward, my cardiac surgeon came down himself with a gurney and wheeled me up 4 floors to the operating theatre .... and was profoundly apologetic!
Campaign gimmickery plays semantic calisthenics with the electorate.
Not High Speed Trains but High FREQUENCY Trains. No grasp of costs
vs benefits or of unmet demand. Doug Ford just a while back was pushing for a subway extension to Pickering. Guess that one got buried in some unfinished tunnel.
So let's give our heads a shake and shed this election shmegegge.
Aecon has enough of a backlog to keep it busy. Let's get on with it.
Cheers.
