ASND's Copper and Copper on path to $15K/ton in 2025 (GS)

Good news for ASND's copper-zinc project in Portugal. Goldman Sachs says that copper is on path to $15K/ton in 2025 thanks to green transition and supply remains relatively scarce. See excerpt below:

  • Copper will be crucial in achieving decarbonization and replacing oil with renewable energy sources, and the market currently faces a supply crunch that could raise the price by more than 60% in four years, Goldman Sachs says in a new report.
  • "Copper is the new oil," vital in the process of creating, storing and distributing clean energy from the wind, sun and geothermal sources, as it has the physical attributes needed to do so, Goldman says.
  • "Discussions of peak oil demand overlook the fact that without a surge in the use of copper and other key metals, the substitution of renewables for oil will not happen," the report says.
