Bill Ackman

Hi there,

Nice to see Bill Ackman has taken a position in BN (6.8 million shares).

I am definitely respectful of what he has done but I do also recall the days Brookfield and Ackman were at odds over I think the restructuring of General Growth Properties (GGP) out of bankruptcy after the financial crisis.

I saw this in a Seeking Alpha article and it also said Ackman bought in at around the all time highs.  I have to think this is all about owning hard assets and with the inflation we have had in recent years, replacement cost of hard assets has skyrocketed.  If I have it right, this is the moment Bruce Flatt has been waiting for.   Ultimately, this is good news for our BPO prefs.

The Bottom Line The big picture takeaway on Bill Ackman’s Brookfield investment is that it indicates that the company has long term potential.
