Zinc8 - Proceed with Caution - Do your research!

Investors looking at Zinc8 Energy Solutions should be aware of its history.  This company used to be called ZincNyx.  Then it was MGX - Renewables.  Now it's Zinc 8 Energy Solutions.  https://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/zincnyx-plans-flow-battery-mass-production-within-a-year

That mass production listed in the article above never happened so far I can dig up.

They have been touting a very similar message for a number of years.  There was a rift with their former CEO Jared Lazerson.  Ron MacDonald was promoted to the position recently.  He used to lead American Vanadium Corp.

Check out this interview with MacDonald with his time at Vanadium and compare it to his talking points now with Zinc 8 Energy Solutions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV7YPgJjO-Q&t=400s
Sound familiar?   Where is American Vanadium Corp now?

My message to potential investors: proceed with caution.  You've seen the opinions of some of the users on this forum most notably AllenJames, Hdawgz and Nineply.

Do your research, and you'll find a lot of smoke.  Look at the company's history, and pay attention to the major players that have been involved like Zimtu/MGX.  Look at the major shareholders buy/sell history. Someone posted a Rockstone research report.  Keep in mind that's paid by Zimtu... a majority shareholder.

These accelerator programs Zinc 8 is participating in all look good, but keep in mind there's been no deliverable yet.  Something like 60% of accelerator programs are unsuccessful in 2 years.  The Surrey install is supposed to begin in the next couple weeks but commissioning not until 2021.  Keep an eye out for news on these fronts.

There are a lot of unknowns.  This is a very speculative play, with some warning signs.  Proceed with caution.  The idea of Zinc 8 is great.  I say that as a climate change advocate with an environmental science background.  But ideas are different than facts and reality.  Be careful, however you proceed.

Thanks for your comments thunderbull, this is certainly in an early stage yet. It would be great if they can make it to full commercial stage, let's see how they do in the coming months.

No problem.  One more tidbit I'll share with you all... You can check out Zincnyx on Glassdoor which is a site hosting employee reviews.  One of the comments from 2018 does not paint a pretty picture from a former employee.  We're obviously in 2020, so it's possible things have progressed, but one of the comments states "Technology Failed."  There's ...more

Certainly the "failed technology" one raises concern... It is not easy to know if the user posting the review was honest, or if there was a technical problem that has been solved (or not) since then? Not sure the company will disclose any details (quite likely not, bit it would be good if they want to clarify this). I take for granted that the technical details/ demos are provided to ...more

For all you newbies out there who do not know the history of Zinc8 or for whatever reason choose to ignore it the company (when it was still MGX Renewables) did subtly announce that they had a failure of the system which they referred to as a dendrite problem.  So basically they had to more or less start over from scratch with regards to their cathodes whereby they announced production of 300 ...more
