Electric boat motors

I had the thought this morning, I wonder if Johnson, Evinrude and whoever else is a boat motor builder is considering developing an electric high performance motor for boats? If they can do it for cars, surely... unless the size and weight of the batteries make it to weighty and bulky for a boat. Any thoughts?

Doo. Owns evinrude johnson are stopping production of those motors .
