RE:RE:Overstory Media acquires The Georgia Straight

Curious to know how much Overstory paid the receiver for rights to the Straight. This is the same outfit that bought the Halifax alt-weekly, The Coast, a little while back. It wouldn't cost much for Overstory to lump the sorry remnants of Now Toronto into this pile of soggy refuse. So, Brain Knish's dream of consolidating alt-weeklies seems to have come true for someone else... and probably for a lot less dough than Brain Knish was qualified to pay.

The remaining questions, of course, are:
(1) Why on earth would anyone bother to buy these things?
(2) Has that undesirable alien Uncle Kirk MacDonald been deported from Canada yet?
