RE:Argex failed for the same reason
The project is viable.
The ARGEX and TEMAS TiO2 processes are similar hydrometallurgical processes using solvent extractions and called the HCl process.

With its own pilot plant, Argex has produced TiO2 pigment fully tested and approved by PPG. Argex was viable thanks to the offtake agreements signed for TiO2 and FeCl3 before any production.

KUNCAI in China has developed its own “HCl process” now producing 100,000tpa - https://www.kuncai-pigments.com/en/products-kuncai/oxides/titanium-dioxide/tioex-8-series.

Temas, with its own “HCl process” and its own mines, is viable if TEMAS sets and implements the right priorities: TiO2 plant, mining, HCl regeneration, TiO2 pigment properties, etc.

Anyway, I have no connection with Temas but with the TiO2 community including other projects.

Some experts expect such an HCl process to develop worldwide and produce 300-400,000tpa in 2027-2028 at the expense of the sulfate process which is gradually disappearing in the West (Kronos and Venator).

Stay tuned!
