I think we talked about this before. May have been on another forum ... This is one case where Petromark won’t work unless Turkey resells the oil. If they use it within Turkey, you got a crooked seller and a crooked buyer. Neither would be interested in SICPA’s services.

I guess Turkey (or any other potential ISIS crude oil destination) would need to agree to monitoring by a neutral party as the product comes into their supply chain? At any rate, this idea expands on the potential of this technology beyond pure government revenue generating operations. I do recall the Nigerian situation has been discussed relative to stolen pipeline oil.

The real push for oil track and trace will imo come from major oil importing / refining countries. No marker = No unloading = No money = No / a much smaller market for illicit oil. The EU, per example, has already publicly acknowledged the need for better authentication practises. Just a matter of time ...
