So I’m going to tell you guys a story…
I was sitting around waiting yesterday and decided to look at the joybox channel because it was mentioned last week
While browsing through it, I had a bit of an Epiphany on how impacting this type of advertising will be.
I was looking at these short clips about dating on the joybox channel (I’m now separated) and they all have a common look and feel. Then there would be some RBC ads peppered in except they didn’t look like ads. They follow the same format as the other clips on the channel. This put them kind of merged into the feed and not sticking out like a sore thumb like normal ads are. I actually watched the ads instead of skipping past them immediately. They were subtle but still there.
This struck me, because this type of advertising will actually get more engagement and the engagement will be very targeted. I can see huge value in this because most other media advertising is kind of a shotgun approach, hoping to reach the demographics are looking for whereas this can be focussed and hit who they want (younger demographic, singles, etc)
Reflecting on it, I can see how this type of advertising will grow massively as big companies modernize their advertising strategy to approaches like this.
Very excited. Now let’s see the major companies start making that realization too!!
