my sense is odlum is very content to keep status quo

as to why they never merged with wellington? i see wellington as a collection of mercenary IAs with no loyalty. their model largely has IAs take stock in anticipation of a sale one day. as a bank aquirer, i would be much more leary about them than say an odlum which has fierce loyalty.

why in part i was never too fond of the 3 pillar aggressive strategy to begin with. just leads to a cycle of attrition of IAs in search of fat payouts. far prefer RF to pursue an odlum like model with more organic growth ambitions, more IA equity ownership etc

seems to be that the richardsons will hold until such a time as growth opportunities flatline, which may very well be why they changed course with the new leadership
