Hudson's Bay Co. > I'm Out!

I'm Out!

Reluctantly pulled the trigger and exited the stock this morning at $11.46.  Frustrated because I think the value in the real estate is there - maybe $20 a share at this point, but management refuses to monetize it.  I don't see any catalysts for upside in the short to medium term, plus the holding structure has become so complex and frankly opaque that I am not even sure what I am holding anymore.  The WeWork transaction just dilutes and muddies the waters further.  And we just keep hearing the same old waffle on analysts calls.  Finally, with a paltry dividend I don't even get paid to wait.

Ultimately there are dozens of better stocks out there and I am going to pick one to invest in.  I might come back to HBC once the price drops down to single digits again.

Congrats on your exit, I've decided my number is close to $13 based on some chart work I've done covering the last year, but quite frankly my $13 number my be lowered if it takes too long to move higher, but I suspect you and I are reading the situation about the same.

Bluejay100 I sold 1,000 HBC shares this morning at $10.25 and invested the proceeds in Athabasca Oil at $1.50. The oil producers have a brighter future than these morons at HBC. I'm still holding 9,000 HBC just in case a miracle happens but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Hope your investment in ATH pays off!  I am certainly glad I got out at $11.46.  I am willing to get back in if SP goes down another 10% or so.  I think there is a floor here around 9. But there are so many other better investments right now.  And many of them you get paid to wait with divis. I have not reinvested the cash yet.  Lookijng for a deep value play.  ...more

Bluejay the payoff for ATH will come much sooner than any potential future payoff for HBC.
