Excessive share movement

There has to be a simple explanation. Just surmising, insofar as the price did not crater in the face of the elevated trading, I believe that some one or someones were establishing or adding to their position. That said, it could have been a Company ATM transaction, an arranged sale/purchase between Mutual Funds or my favorite a purchase by a Chinese or Indian state actor. Take your pick on this speculation Sunday. Has anyone encountered this type of activity before?

Friday trading was 3.5 X the average daily volume. Over the last five years only one day in February,2021 saw more volume. Whatever happened occurred on a day that appears to be a daily bottom on the HL chart.
