10% royalty for cobalt with 50% super tax

if net profit is 20% out of $100 revenue, it has to pay $10 royalty + $10 super tax = 100% go to the Congo state. It must be absurd.

I am sure no mining company will accept to give their entire profit, at the moment we are just reading the news not the intricate details nor factoring in the  exponential rise in Cobalt and Copper .. Congolese govt is not stupid, it will not scare away world's biggest minning companies.. Its simply the DRC govt has estimated the gains minners will make due to surging prices of battery ...more

Not quite that bad. If net profits are $20 and most of that is super profits (likely) then you lose 50% of say $14, or $7. That leaves $6, and thou pay 10% of that... .60 cents. So instead of $20 profit, you get $7 + $5 40 profit, or $13.40.
