The comment regarding Ivanhoe's power issues ...

at IVN's Kamola/ Kakula ... "are nonsense. The Congo river has the 2nd highest volumes of any river in the world, of 1.25 million ft3 / sec. Only the Amazon tops that."

What is truly nonsense is believiing that Ivahoe's source of hydroelectric power is from the Congo river.

"Ivanhoe Mines Executive Chairman Robert Friedland said, “The upgrading program is a significant public–private partnership, which is vital to secure sustainable, clean electricity for the Congolese people and for the development of a Tier 1 copper mine at Kamoa-Kakula.”

The Mwadingusha and Koni plants are in cascade, with Koni directly downstream from Mwadingusha on the Lufira River at the mouth of Lake Tshangalele, north of Likasi and about 250 km northeast of the Kamoa Mine development site.

The Nzilo 1 plant is on the Lualaba River, downstream of Nzilo Lake and north of the city of Kolwezi, 40 km from Kamoa.

Once fully rehabilitated and modernized, SNEL said the plants will have a total installed capacity of about 200 MW, which it says is expected to be more than sufficient for the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Project."

Now where in that article does it make any reference to concerns of drought and inadequate power. All positive info it looks to me......but thanks for showing everyone that. Largest copper discovery, on schedule to be ready, adequate power, all mou's signed. Thanks again.

The run has just started Top imo. Probably like yourself i was buying IVN near the bottom of the commodities crash and been sitting on it for almost 5 yrs......pre-Kakula. I think the tide has turned for the metals stocks and even some of the duds may do okay however IVN is undoubtedly the creme de la creme and that is what we want to own. Dumping at the beginning of what will likely be an epic ...more

"I no longer post on IVN is because of things and people like the one you esponded to. NO FU_KING CLUE, about what IVN does, How it does it ..." (sic) So why don't you educate everybody about the facts instead of just whining and complaining?   "and what the HUGE UPSIDE exsists in that stock." (sic) Well, now that's just your opinion so please forgive us ...more

I would suggest that what climate change promises is a drastic change in precipitation patterns.  The amount of precipitation will not only impact hydroelectrical production in the southern third of Africa, but will also have devastating effects upon agricultural production.  Again Zambian drought and widespread hunger is simply a matter of record, and migration of large populations are ...more
