Copper smelting price

For sure some of you know the answer to a question I had for some time now:

To what degree is copper price relevant for ncu's product?

Isn't the copper price for the smelted project? Do we have to factor that in then?

konrad...I would have to look it up specifically but I am 99% sure that the AISC (all in sustaining cost) of $1.86 for the underground portion, does include smelting charges. AISC is an (almost) standardized method of costing to try capture all cost thus making it easy to compare the commodity price to the cost to get it out...including things like replacing capital equipment along the way ...more

AISC was the term I was missing. Smelting is a part of that. As the topic came up it's not because of "price worries" that I asked. Just curiousity. Currently I've got some +500k shares and am planning on holding for some years. So no worries from my side Market will catch up sooner or later. With or without RS. I don't even think we "need" 5 Dollar copper ...more

Konrad, The copper price is fundamental for the returns from NCU's product. The NPV of the mine is entirely driven by the cu price, given the cost per unit output is calculated as an all in cost I woudl expect (and have confidence) that the price paid for concentrate by refiners varys directly with the copper price. In essence, increases in the copper price, over and above the break even ...more

I completely agree. But on top of the pure fundamentals there's also a psychological layer that drives the stock price of a company. Along with multiple other factors like the current "focus" of traders. Sometimes there's a lot of buzz around tech or lithium and so on By saying we don't even need five dollar copper I'm referring to just that. I think in the current ...more
