The World Bank estimates that the green energy transition alone will require roughly 1.1 trillion lb of copper over the coming 25 years, or an average of about 44 billion lb per year, which is roughly equivalent to all the copper mined around the world during 2020.

Yup... roughly 3.5% additional production per year, posted against 10 years of under investment, declining copper grades, increased environmental challenges with regard to mining and inflation in the cost to build new mines things are stacking up pretty well for copper. Also, being that small deficits (the tail) can very easily move an inelastic price (the dog) we could see some preety good ...more

Agreed... it was just off the cuff, so to speak. Lets include them all'n one: 1.   10 years of under investment in new mines and mine expansion 2.   Declining copper grades 3.   Increased environmental challenges with regard to mining 4.   Inflation in the cost to build new mines or expand existing ones 5.   Extreme weather events disrupting ...more
