Cheap

This getting so cheap, I may need to sell another to buy more. Watching closely.

In my opinion, right now RVM is not any cheaper than other nearby silver producers and has greater risks than the others, with a similar market cap. For example, over the past 12 months, RVM and USA shares have both seen similar price declines, but RVM is a one mine producer vs. USA with two producing mines and a third and fourth coming on line in 2013.  Having multiple mines derisks the ...more

So what's up with these US of A miners?

CHEAPER!     CLOSE TO BUYING TIME.

Couldn't help myself. Bought more. Hope I'm not clutching the proverbial knife!

I think the worst is over. Time to turn north.

Why do you say that?  Did you contact the company? I sure hope the issues at the mine don't drag on for months.  This price is beyound ridiculous.

Nice up on Friday. Now we need some good news to keep the mo going!

petersburggray Thanks for coming here warning us from investing in RVM and pumping USA, having no shares of RVM yourself and coming here to warn strangers from buying into RVM.
Comment by petersburggray on Feb 12, 2013 4:38am
I did not show up here to pump USA as you suggest but only used USA as an example of why in my opinion RVM is not cheap here, even at these depressed levels.  There are certainly differences like mining method between RVM and USA, however there are also many similarities - Galena and Troy are located close by to one another, both are Cu and Ag producers and both have similar  market ...more

petersburggray Thanks for you answer. IMHO they will do all they can in the future to mine all the silver they can because of more money printing and also for groing industrial demand. So I would feel comfortable to invest in both USA and RVM earnest saying. RVM is currently trading for about $0,18 per OZ, so thats a steal in my opinion. I haven't a position in RVM yet but am keeping an eye on ...more

My understanding from the RVM releases concerning the Troy Mine differs from yours.  I read that surveys have found that the main haulage route was blocked by rockfall but that the main production mining area of the North Ore Body was unaffected. They have been scaling and dewatering the areas that they have accessed using the Service Adit.  They looked at the South ...more

Thanks for sharing these very helpful facts BigSky.  Certainly understanding the full impact and costs of the collapse of Troy is a process that will not be fully understood until all areas of the mine are inspected.  This process  is slow on account of the groundfall which blocks access to all areas of the mine.  My main concern with RVM is that management has not been ahead ...more

You're talking about such minutiae.  Troy will be mined again and soon.  What difference does it make what their costs are within a few million when you're talking about entity that w/ Rock Creek may be worth a billion dollars to a buyer.  Don't expect the company to be sold but the value there is huge.  How much lower can you really reasonably expect this to go?
Comment by petersburggray on Feb 15, 2013 5:20am
Your minutiae ganja is my attention to detail. Attention to detail is in my opinion the difference between an investors solventcy and bankruptcy.  Time will tell how soon Troy is again mined, assuming there is no issue with mine design or mining method.  Underground development work done safely is time comsuming and in my experience always takes longer to complete and is more expensive ...more

Repair of Troy is not going to cost anything even remotely close to 30 mil.  And re. management, they are extremely good, extremely conservative, extremely careful.  What happened was an act of nature.

On November 21st and 22d, 2012, 3.18 inches of rain fell in Troy, Montana.  Per Shanahan,  this heavy rainfall caused groundfall in the A & C Beds as well as knocking out electric power underground.  On December 1st, Shanahan scaled back operations at Troy due to unsafe conditons underground.  In the  December 3rd  PR, Shanahan discloses publicly for the first ...more

Thanks for the information and It is regrettable that you, yourself cannot oversee the operation since your blaming Shanahan for events that occur in all mining operations are forefold but with you at the helm all would be utopian.  Looking at other mining stocks that sell for exagerated amounts over book value, no income, high P/Es etc., I guess you, yourself would relish the bullishness of ...more

Yes, Petersburrgray, if you look at the chart it suggests more or less what you have described, which is a gradually deteriorating condition that finally became serious abruptly.  I say that because RVM does not participate in the second bump upwards that is evident in most PM stocks around Nov. after the earlier increase in price in Sept.  It shows instead a rise and then a gradual and ...more

Petersburg gray showing a huge lack of knowledge of underground mining. Please pray tell how RVM management was supposed to do this mining without blasting? You seem to be suggesting they  should mine without the use of explosives. Can you name any underground miners who dont use blasting to loosen the ore? And water problems are not evident on any other underground mines? Nearly 100% of ...more

mouserman on the contrary, I am not suggesting to mine without blasting at Troy, but rather I am suggesting that the drip drip drip of information from RVM management about Troys collapse raises lots of questions to my mind.  I agree with you that the massive room and pillar mining method at Troy causes water issues, but you would have to agree with me that though 3 inches of rain over 2 days ...more
