under present conditions not much more they could do -this should keep the banks off their backs for a while -must go into full survival mode -there will be many million dollar homes in the area which will see their mortgages go under water as Alberta economy implodes

I think that under the present circumstances, the deal is a good one for both companies. Having been a former shareholder of SGL, and now a shareholder of EGL.UN, I see this as a win-win... Since EGL.UN now owns 50% of the Dixonville field, I will not be surprised to see them, along with SGL putting new capital into the field once oil prices move back up. You are right--their options were limited--glad to see that they finally eliminated the dividend.  What is difficult to comprehend is that there were still some individuals wanting to maintain the dividend in this environment considering the position SGL was in.
