Of course Suncor is the exeption to the rule. But most of their cash flow still comes from their open pit bitumen. They have the revenue to sustain the development of the SAGD type operations without carrying a heavy dept load like other SAGD operations. You can cherry pick all you want but the percentage of SAGD companies are sucking wind.STP.CLL AND THE ONCE OPTI part of Nexen all have serious cash ...more

You stated in your previous post that the business model is broke....its not.If you think that then get out of Canadian oil stocks. There will be more sagd projects than open pit oil mines  in the west..not to offend you but unfortunately that  is a fact...just do a bit of homework and you'll see.I am not cherry picking as I dont care about the companies that YOU cherry picked,I only ...more

Nightowl, I feel so sorry for you, lashing out at everyone, insulting people just for the heck of it. I would say you need a hug, but I suspect its more than that. Did viagara not work for you? Are you tired of the emptiness in your life, I hope you don't blame your mother and father. Try and take back control from your wild emotions, there is no reason to be hostile to everyone. Therapy is a ...more

Man, watching your country crumble around you has made you bitter, so sad.

O.K. himmler i'll wait for your list of SAGD projects that are doing well.I have a feeling it will be a long ,long wait. wdr2

You're right...ALL sagd projects are a waste of money and therefore ALL oil companies that use them are destined for complete and total failure.Any company that uses  them must just love to lose money . My conversation with you is useless and a waste of time.Sell your Canadian oil stocks, and move on. Happy now by the way?
Comment by wdr2 on Nov 19, 2013 10:48am
Happy when you produce a list of SAGD projects that are in the black. They all over estimated future  production ,as usual and underestimated the cost of construction and operation costs. wdr2
Comment by ShatnersRug on Nov 19, 2013 11:10am
wdr2 is a d!ck but he does have a point. There aren't many SAGD projects out there that have actually met design capacity.

If you followed STP over the long term, which you obviously could'nt have, you would know that they finished their construction UNDER budget. And thanks for the DETAILED list of companies that have broken down their sagd costs seperate from their other operational costs. You are very good at cherry picking your arguments as well.As I said if it were that bad of a system then NO company would use ...more

Just wanted to add....don't buy the stock of a company you know nothing about. Find out everything you can. This is a publically traded company and the information available for you to indulge in is enough to make an informed investment. I have no fear in investing in this one. I've done my research, which is not rocket science. This company has invested heavily in building the ...more

One should be more carefull when stating comments like that.Think about what you said ....why would anyone try SAGD if they dont work???The fact is they DO work ,but they can run into massive cost overruns but what doesnt??. As a matter of fact  when STP was building its infrastructure  it always under budget if I recall, so its only the last year they ran into trouble. This company has ...more

@Himmler: Hypothetically, if you didn't have any losses in STP and were a new investor, would you consider buying in now at 37 cents?
Comment by himmler on Nov 18, 2013 1:52am
Well Shat, its a tricky question as I am still a shareholder and  a very unhappy one at that.I am also somewhat of a gambler so I would say that the answer is yes.But I would NOT bet the farm.I will be on the level  though, its very difficult for me to make an honest and unbiased opinion.I also dont know if it will drop farther yet.....Its been such a disappointment for me.
