consolidation was a bad idea at a bad time soon as it is front and centre in any stock i own it gets dumped.gold has had its butt kicked and will continue as long as the dollar is strong and equites are going up.management should quit.

The reason why equities are up is not because of any fundamental improvement in the economy.  It is due to the massive money printing (quantitative easing) by the Fed, expanding the money supply and increasing inflation, which causes prices to rise including stocks.  Gold and other metals seem to not do as well when the general equities market is on the rise.  The central banks will ...more

yes but billions are being pumped in by japan china america and other markets so interest rates are being keeped low and everyone loves the american dollar ,the dollar rising is  bad for gold- commodities

True.  And given that, I think it's a good buying opportunity if one believes in the fundamental value of gold, silver and other precious metals, or metals in general.  Was it Templeton that said buy at the point of maximum pessimism?  Knowing that interest rates are being deliberately pushed down and the dollar is artificially being inflated, at some point the charade will be ...more

It's classic deflation.  Gold will continue to decline as big money has no choice but to move to the US dollar and blue chip stocks. Inflation will only start  in the US after Euro and Japan crumble. With a falling gold price high cost producers will be forced onto bankruptcy causing a further stranglehold on supply. Often all this Gold will take off to new highs.

Inflation (in prices - as opposed to the money supply - the true definition of inflation) could take off at any time. It depends more on the actions of central w(b)ankers and the velocity of money than on the status of the USD vs. the euro or yen. Gold will stabilize or perhaps decline a bit further as hot money floods (temporarily) into the bond and stock markets, but downward cost pressure on ...more
