January operational update
“We operated more than 28,000 flights and carried over 3.3 million passengers this January in comparison to January 2022, where we operated just over 20,600 flights and carried 1.5 million passengers,” Kevin O’Connor, Vice President, System Operations Control, told The Daily. “It’s exciting to see this growth. We also took delivery of two additional A220 aircraft with higher gross weight capabilities, bringing the total number of aircraft in this sub-fleet to nine. This enhancement enables us to support greater payloads on long haul flights.”
“Throughout Canada, we experienced snow, freezing rain and unseasonal fog. In preparation for the snowfall forecasted across eastern Canada in the last week of January, we adjusted capacity and communicated with our customers in advance. We collaborated extensively with Nav Canada and the airport authorities to reduce impact on our customers’ journeys and minimize any operational hangover.
“Although the winter season is not yet over, we are preparing for the busy spring break travel period ahead. Thank you to all employees for keeping safety top of mind and ensuring that our customers reach their destinations safely.”
