Value of Assets?

My understanding is book value is understated as assets are held on the books at original purchase price. Has anyone done the work to understand what the land, vineyards, etc are worth today? I believe on a call they said $750 million CAD?

In 2006 (17 years ago) Vincor was purchased by Constellation Brands for approximately $1.5 Billion CAD. Vincor sales at the time we're around $700-$800 million with $300 million in debt. Essentially paid approximately 2X sales.  Andrew Peller currently trading at 0.4 times sales.  I see little downside risk here with tremendous upside with patience.

I see lots of downside and lots of upside.  My big question is "Are all levels of government going to support Canadian Wineries?" Are wineries stucturally unprofitable now? The Niagara Wineries have been identified as an important tool in regional goods and services which is the major source of jobs.  However, at a global level wine production has been increasing faster than ...more
