Will it have any effect

Will it have any effectChina has cleary announced that a gold backed currency is in the works.
It appears they want to implement it sooner than later. They've begun implementing gold storage in Shainghai. 
I wonder if will affect the price of gold as their intentions become more obvious to the rest of the world.
Any thoughts out there?
