U.S. Natural Gas Extends Gains As Storage Surplus Shrinks
U.S. Natural Gas Extends Gains As Storage Surplus Shrinks1103 ET – U.S. natural gas futures press higher after an EIA report showing a smaller-than-expected injection into storage for last week, reducing the surplus over the five-year average.
Natural gas inventories rose by 18 billion cubic feet to 3,217 Bcf. The injection was below the 28 Bcf estimate in a Wall Street Journal survey of analysts, and smaller than the 38 Bcf five-year average build for the week. Gas in storage stood 154 Bcf above the five-year average and 112 Bcf below the year-earlier level. Nymex natural gas is up 2.9% at $2.969/mmBtu.
(If this holds it will be a good start for NG prices along with a November polar vortex.)
