Question for 2022

What will be the impact of Treaty8 on the Energy sector in BC, in 2022?

Is there an opportunity for an improved working relationship with indigenous people?

Will all the costs of their new ruling be heaped upon energy companies or is the provinicial and federal goverment now responsible for additional costs?

The ruling goes beyond energy, what are the implications for the Province.  

Here is to a Happy and Prosperous 2022

In 2022 the economics in terms of Risk Management is getting better, 20% is my guess.

Those are good questions. I think it is the most important situation in Indigenous/Canadian relations in history and significant as the the metoo or black lives matter movements. This has nothing to do with wokeism. Obviously this is about land claims, reconciliation and the residential school graves all converging on this issue . Obviously this will cost more in terms of FN benefits. And equally ...more

Happpy New Year, everyone. I work in Indigenous relations in the energy space, albeit in Ontario. Idealogy aside, it comes down to the size of the cheque every single time. From there, it's a relatively simple cost / benefit decision based on the economics of the play.

Hi trapped. I worked in Ab and BC in the patch for thirty five years. I retired six years ago after 35 Years. You are right about Ab as it was a company negotiation with each band. At Kakwa there were four And then you had to submit joint letters to the AER, or the ERCB as it was historically known as. In after about 2010, BC had a well levy for each well drilled that was distributed to Fans ...more
