I must admit......

I am baffled by this fiasco. Bankers represents 6% of the country's GDP and invest every single cent back into developing this resource which was in disastrous condition when they began. Are these idiots blind? Bankers had to raise the capital to get this business off the ground and has encountered nothing but problems and issues in this nutty country. The management of Bankers are not magicians they need capital to extract the oil out of this crazy field. Does not the really stupid government get it......the more money Bankers spends on drilling the higher their production and the higher the royalties to the government. Tax them to death and production flat-lines and so does the royalties...the government loses out. Unless they are trying to force Bankers out for some reason, they must be incredibly stupid. I am lost for words.

That last sentence of yours,DB, is the one that is creeping in to this conversation but I don't want to entertain it. maybe I'm in denial, but I just can't understand it with oil so low. Maybe if oil was 100 bucks they could try to use some pretense to say they weren't getting a high enough royalty or taxes, but at 40 dollars!!! No margin there for even the dumbest tax accountant ...more
