Buffet didn't make his fortune by trading against the wind. He has a system for evaluting financial statements, companies, people and an investment horizen that spans decades (just look at how long he's held shares in Coca Cola). Its the same thing here, investors in concordia aren't looking for a short term investment, but a robust investment that will flourish over the next few ...more

I've only read the intelligent investor 4th edition by Benjamin Graham, with Buffets additions to the book. I agree that going against the market is a powerful investment too, but the leasons I learned from that book were on value investing and a long investment horizen. I should probably check out the books he's written himself, I wanted to start with the one that got Buffet ...more

Graham's basic thesis was that a stock's price will always return to at least book value, so if you bought below book, you will eventually get a gain, although not necessarily through the market, which could be irrational for long periods of time and often is.  You had to be prepared to ignore the market.  If the market ultimately refused to recognize at least book, then the ...more

fair summary meetoo.  I suspect a "kitchen sink quarter" for the new CEO - and expecting further massive write downs.  It'll be worth taking a good look once all the dust settles.  I am sure others will be scutinising the debris too.

 So prof hulot - preserve what little capital you have left and buy double the amount of common stock for the same outlay after the results come out.....  this mindless flogging a dead horse and abusing everyone that sees CXR for what it is - has to stop.

That about sums it up. Very rational resume. I agree the Year-end won’t be good. All they need to do is get the Patient/Company out of ICU. Stabilization in required.
