Institutional investor selling

It appears that a large institutional investor is selling.  If you look at the daily volume it is erratic without any news.  I think the large spikes in volume is because it is one or two investor decreasing their position.  Probably a company that has been holding for years and tired of the slow downward trend.  I think it is a terrible time to sell but I understand the impatience.

This theory is possible but with brokers having $40 targets and the company about to close on a one billion dollar deal who would choose to sell at this point? Especially after holding through the recent tough period. It's down again today with the sale getting closer to being final. Makes little sense.

Indeed, it doesn't make any sense. Got in touch with IR and they told me that there is a high probability that the deal closes before the end of January. At that time, we will find out how they deploy the 942 million(735US x 1.2825CDN) At this morning CAD/US$, they are getting 26.5 million $ more then when the deal was announced. I couldn't agree more.  I believe the sell off is because shareholders are cutting their losses because they are concerned about the family board screwing them out of their money.  Clearly, they are trying to extract as much money from their company and shareholders for their benefit. Make sense. If i were in their shoes, i would first initiate a major SIB to reduce the number of share. Only after that,would i pay a huge dividend.By doing the SIB first, they will keep more $$$ for the remaining (Schwartz) shareholders. The Schwartz did a great job to get top $$$ for the sports division.These guys aren't getting younger.Martin is 71 and Alan is 68.It is quite ...more
