Yup Frank, So much potential too. Someone once said that democracy cannot survive scarcity. It can only thrive in times of abundance. Once energy scarcity grips Colombia then all bets are off. Petro needs to resolve this ASAP.

This is very dangerous  for the country at large ....it may even spark a civil war if it goes on to long .....

Yeah "Cien anos de solidad" One Hundred Years of Solitude by Nobel prize winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Great book! All about the civil wars that have ravaged Colombia for much of it's history.  Coming to a jurisdiction near you. The US electrical power grid was attacked over 200 times in 2022 with attacks increasing in frequency and magnitude this year ...more

I will get that book ..thanks .....seems all of South America has embrassed socialism...even Panama are extorting money to change the terms of the copper mine there ...oh well let's hope Guyana doesn't,t stray to far left .....

Yes and I'm wondering how viable EVs which rely on lithium batteries will be if protests in Chile escalate at those lithium sources which require inordinate amounts of water to extract running the locals there in that desert climate short of critical water supplies. Yeah we'll see what happens in Guyana. Population of only about 700,000. It should be easy for the government there to keep ...more

petro has got to solve this for sure ....otherwise !!!  I am very surprised at how many smart people have been hoodwinked in the E V camp ......Einstein said it best. Energy can neither be created or destroyed it can only be converted from one form to another ....just where do people think energy comes from ....convert coal into electricity. As in the eastern us ...lol a lot of goog that does ...more

Bayon gone end of March.   EC "the cash cow" will be run by Petro people.   Continue to replace all heads first, then flip the switch back, re-divert the funds to Petro's criminal background, change the constitution so that leaders can stay more than one term, and you are moving towards Venezuela part deux... I digress...

You may be right ..but I am sure a civil war will erupt if that tacit is tried out ...the old guard has all the guns    ...just some jungle terrorist to deal with and if the gloves come off they will reastablist the hit squares from the past ...

You are not only a xucking idiot but a lying one as well. The president is limited to one term in the constitution of 1991. You want to show proof he can  change the constitutionor is your right wing lies control to spread FUD? Some people here think this is VZ. Well it isn't. I have been here for 6 years and the ignorant attacks here on this country is pathetic and propagated by right ...more

Frank, I'm in both OYL and FEC for WEI...period.  For some, FEC's other assets are a sense of security, perhaps a floor should things not go well.  Unfortunately Cloud...ombia is part of that floor and the shat show in that country is causing cracks.  If you believe in WEI and it's a success it won't matter and the Cloud...ombian circus is providing a ...more

Hi Mat & Fishfanatic, I don't know how people define left or right. Globovision, a Venezuelan television channel, did a fantastic documentary back in 2003 called "Mission Riqueza" loosely translated as the quest for wealth. They asked the question of why some countries are rich while others are poor. They looked at a number of factors - 1) natural resources: Having plenty of ...more

Colombia isn't VZ. It has a constitution strictly enforced. I am not posting here again. The ignorant replys from this so called expert Mat and is a P.O.S.. It's obvious to me he is a manipulating liar. Good luck..Have a nice Day

No one is saying Colombia is.  Is  venazuela......just it starting to lean that way

Fishfanatic, You make a good point. I remember former president Alvaro Uribe wanting to change the constitution so that he could run again. Both the Colombian supreme court and Colombian national assembly shot him down. Regarding personal attacks. I don't pay attention to them. I want people to attack my arguments. If they resort to attacking me personally then I know that they don't know ...more

As I have said before, this is a stockboard, fact. FEC is a company that currently holds assets in Colombia, fact. Colombia currently has a left leaning, more socially conscious government who's early platform is not resource friendly, fact. Due to such policy, one can conclude that future prosperity for resource companies in Colombia are not as promising as before Petro gained power. ...more

Good facts Mat! I value that. Now let's see the counter arguments. Mine is that Petro will see no end of resistance and constitutional and legal challenges if he tries to pull a Chavez and disposses oil companies of their assets like Chavez did to Exxon with their Cerro Negro project in Venezuela or ConocoPhillips with their Petrozuata project.  Your previous point that Frontera might ...more

Anything is possible... and all too often, it's the underbelly of humanity that makes it to the top. I don't think he would survive what you postulate.

Cheers to "I don't think he would survive" I'll drink to that...
