What Actually Happened In Panama…

What Actually Happened In Panama…

Despite my reluctance of watching or reading MS news I came across this very informative W5 episode regarding First Quantum's mine closure in Panama. It gives both sides to the story and quite frankly opened my eyes on why the locals were so intent on the present result. Their protests made our Truckers Protest in Ottawa in 2022 seem like a high school pep rally. Tristan Pascal's interview did not do him or Quantum any justice or instill the confidence of the mine opening soon. The people have obviously spoken regardless of the economic downfall of Panama's GDP. The show makes it painfully obvious that the company is Canadian only in legal terms, employing a staggering 12 Canadian employees and not paying any Canadian taxes. When W5 interviewed Trade Minister Mary Ng she did not apperar to be be very knowledgeable on this but emphatically stated her department would support all Canadian companies.  Watch it yourself...
