will become the norm on airlines.  Rented an iPad on Air Canada Rouge for $10 last week.  While I was miffed that I had to rent an iPad to watch movies, the quality of the screen vs the garbage screens installed in the back of seats or overhead made it worth every cent.  Also bought wine with dinner.  The only limitation for these extra charges to be widened to include meals, pop and juice is the time taken to process the transaction - credit cards only.

I must have missed something, where does gxi come into this?  Are they involved in streaming the video or are we just talking about they use of an ipad as an item to sell on their handsets?

Not sure of their involvement in this specific instance.  They may have been involved in the electronic payment process.  I have no idea if they provided the iPads for rent or the entertainment content.  Nor do I know to what extent if any at this point in the food or beverage sales that are offered.  I just wanted to illustrate the direction airlines are moving with regards to ...more

Thanks Kisu. I question the viability of this long term.  Breakages, charging, theft will negate profits.  I can only guess ipads would only be delivered to first class passengers, I can't imaging the logistics of providing hundreds of these things on a flight.  One long flight and some good films and they all need charging or swapping out.  I wonder if there are seat back ...more
