Futures are rolling over from August to September.  You can check out some of Mayor’s past posts. He has explained this quite well.

Yes, Steven1. That's what I was talking about last week about the VIX Futures monthly rollover weekend. It happens once every month near the middle of the month. I thought it was next weekend, I know the website where to check when they happen. But that's why I sold at break-even after the pop last week, because I knew rolliver new contract weekend was coming. Pretty well last Friday VIX ...more
