The market environment begins to turn ..

John McCluskey: Suddenly everyone is talking about gold
John A. McCluskey, President and CEO of Alamos Gold, notes in an interview with Kitco Mining that gold is finally getting the attention of the mainstream press. Alamos Gold is a Canadian-based gold producer that operates three mines in North America: the Young-Davidson and Island Gold mines in northern Ontario and the Mulatos mine in the Mexican state of Sonora.

Regarding gold in general, McCluskey said that investors are starting to take an interest in the metal. The price of gold has hit several all-time highs and recently surpassed the $2,500 mark, he said.

"I've probably read more articles about gold in the last week than I have in the last three months," McCluskey said. "Even though the price of gold was going up, it was largely ignored by the press. And suddenly the Financial Times has an article on gold, the Wall Street Journal has an article on gold. Suddenly everyone is talking about gold." McCluskey speculates that 2,500 dollars is the "[...] magic number everyone has been waiting for".
