Market capitalization comparison

It's interesting to make a very rough comparison of III's market capitalization shortly before the August 2014 tailings dam disaster and its current maket capitalization.

2014: 74.9 million shares at $18.00 per share  = $1348 million
2023 154.9 million shares at $2.00 per share   =   $310 million

Taking into account a) the dam disaster liability is gone, b) the huge increase in the value of Red Chris, and c) the probable increase in the value of Mount Polley, the current market capitalization of III should be substantially higher. Even assuming the 2014 market value of $1,348 million, the current share price of III should be about $8.70 per share.. I appreciate that other factors are at play e.g. metal prices and exchange rates, convertible debentures, etc, but the overall message is clear.

Hi, I dont think you can compare it the way you did.  the 1.4 billion in 2014 was based on 100% ownership of a mine that was to be printing money at 2.52$ per ton of CU. If you dont belive me check the tape from back briefs in 2018. If you minus the 800 mil from that you get about 500 milion, with 155 million shares it comes up to about 3.50$ per stock.  I know they got some good news ...more

Hi Bravohit, as I've said many times before, focus on the intrinsic value of the assets. For example, the RC PFS of November 2021 attributed a very conservative value of $673 million to III's 30% share i.e. currently $4.33 per share. That RC value has increased substantially since then - the FS is expected soon. Mount Polley is looking good. III will not be developing RC, NCM is the ...more
