ABSOLUTELY! Don't sell your shares. 3 yr chart trade channel indicates $8.25+ in 3-4 weeks, then giant volume. JMO Smocher

I just took the balance of my RRIF withdrawal for 2021 in Ivanhoe stock. I have cash elsewhere for my groceries.     Capital gains tax on 1/2 the gain rather than tax at 100% of full value.

you are going to have a taxable (deemed disposition) event when you pull it out of the rrif whether it's in stocks or whether it's cash. So you are not saving anything.

Yes I will pay tax on the dollar amount but I would for cash or stock value. My point is the stock value going ahead is going to rise considerably  and 1/2 the increase will be tax free capital gain.

Lucentio, if you really believe that IVN is "going to rise considerably", why not hold it in a TFSA... NO TAX at all, unless you are a daytrader!

Great advice for sure...maybe he does and his TFSA is maxed out? TFSA definitely the way to go though!
Comment by Lucentio on Apr 06, 2021 11:09pm
I do hold some in my TFSA
