RE:Canada must secure... This quote says it all (see below). This likely stifles any momentum towards the Canadian based Nano JV plant (and should stop dead any speculation that Nano might scoop any distressed Canadian based EcoPro BM assets). But thank the good Lord that Dan hardwired mobility and flexibility into the Nano One business model.
Who cares if Canada is a write off for a commercial scale OnePot cathode plant. Candiac 1 will find a home for 1,000tpa LFP; that is about the only thing I am confident about. And Candiac 1 was always intended to be a demonstration plant where licensees can see it to believe it. And train "on the tools". And of course Candiac 1 will serve as a vehicle for future R&D (including development of OnePot! Part Deux).
Let SMM base their OnePot cathode plant out of Oklahoma (near to their lithium carbonate supplier). Why not? It would certainly keep Mr. T happy. And I pity the fool who wants to let their business be stomped on by this anti-globalization administration. "Dont tread on me."
SMM basing a OnePot plant in Oklahoma would get us a OnePot licensing agreement. Would keep SMM in good standing with their shareholders and be a prudent strategic decision. Canada of course loses out now that nobody will want to build out new finishing infrastructure in their country. Canada will unfortunately (for them) remain the supplier of unfinished goods that the USA can process into the finished goods the USA (and then the globe) needs. But let the Canadians worry about that eh? Globalization is dead. I would plant a cathode facility right in the middle of the USA if it was my choice.
Oh, and here is the quote:
"The integrated nature of the Canada-U.S. energy system and our reliance on non-legally binding co-operation agreements have left Canada vulnerable to the whims of a political leader with the power — granted, without our vote — to make decisions that could profoundly impact our economy and future."
