This 6-month internship is part of the commissioning of this pilot plant. It will begin with a technical training phase on remelting processes, plasma technologies, and the measurement tools used. The intern will then support the process teams during the initial test campaigns, contributing to commissioning, monitoring operating parameters, and data collection.

The main objective of this internship is to characterize the performance of the plasma aluminum remelting process through the analysis of several key indicators: melting time, energy consumption, metallurgical quality of the melt, and emissions. The experimental results obtained will also contribute to and validate the numerical models developed within the Foundry and Recycling team, as part of regular technical exchanges.

 PROJECT: Electrification of the aluminum remelting process using a plasma torch: experimental study and performance characterization of an industrial pilot plant.
  
 In the context of decarbonizing the metallurgical industry, Constellium is exploring innovative solutions to electrify its aluminum recycling processes. The Voreppe R&D center recently invested in the installation of a 1 MW non-transferred thermal plasma torch, integrated into a 2-ton capacity demonstration furnace, to evaluate this electrification solution for the remelting process.
  
 And from the news releases from PYR and Constellium, we know that Constellium is using a 1 MW plasma torch from PyroGenesis.
