I was looking back at the press released on Jan. 17th, regarding the contract with a North American Lithium-ion Battery recycler. At first, I didn’t think much, it’s just a contract for $500k - $1M. Then I started to look at how the process works for these Battery Recyclers. Almost all of the recyclers will need a way to shred the batteries, and this might be the only way to do this cleanly. I found this to be interesting from the press released “The Client, whose name will remain confidential for competitive reasons, has a unique process that rescues the highest percentage of scarce minerals and strategic materials – such as cobalt, lithium, and manganese – from disassembled lithium-ion batteries, while mitigating hazardous chemicals and heavy metals, for industry-leading sustainability.” Well, guess who is 20 minutes away from Pyrogenesis and has a “Disruptive Technology Reaches 95% Recovery Rate”? It’s Lithion Recycling! https://www.lithionrecycling.com/lithium-ion-battery-recycling/closed-loop-system/
In 2023, Lithion will launch its first commercial recycling operations. The goal is to commission over 20 battery recycling plants in the next 15 years. https://www.lithionrecycling.com/lithium-ion-battery-recycling-plant/. Back in September 22, 2022 GM and Lithion announced an investment and strategic partnership https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/gm-and-lithion-announce-an-investment-and-strategic-partnership-agreement-to-pursue-a-circular-ev-battery-ecosystem-301630648.html
If Lithion Recycling is Pyrogenesis’s client, and this first system is successful (delivery is expected June 2023), we can surely expect more system orders with Lithion and potentially other batter recyclers as well. imho
Further to what I shared last night, regarding my speculation that the client is Lithion Recycling, I checked the LinkedIn account of Gerald Magnin (VP of New Business Development – Pyro Green Gas Inc). Well, it could be a coincidence but check out the activity section .. there are two articles regarding Lithion Recycling that Gerald shared. So, Lithion Recycling could very well be the client of the contract back in January 17th. imho
