I’ve owned this for 2 1/2 years.

I'm way in the green. Haven't taken any profits. I roll my dividends into shares via the DRIP . I'm not a trader , I make large investments in undervalued businesses and wait for the re-rating.    Used to trade but couldn't sleep at night and was stressed. I'm not built for that , but 25 years of investing and being diversified , I generally double my portfolio every year and sleep well.    I don't pop in here much , as my time is spent researching , not blabbing on here.   Quarterhill is a strong , well run business .  Take a large position , stop worrying about the day to day stuff and enjoy your life until the spike happens.  You have to be in before it happens because you won't catch it , it will gap up in 5 seconds.

I like that approach and I'm in a similar situation. would you care to share other ticker you are currently in?

Hi birder.   Honestly , I reallocated a lot this year and moved into quite a few gold and silver miners and also bought physical precious metals.   Given the inflation situation , it's where I feel a lot of my portfolio should be.  I think you buy any well managed name , B2 , Alamos , Etc.   I really like Gran Columbia.    If you think the market still has ...more

You do not say $$ you invested! If your portfolio is 5k or 5mill? Doubling yearly? Unheard of but possible maybe by owning one stock or once in a while but never consistently! Imo. As per gold and silver miners? Absolutely correct there! By march of next year new all time highs possible imho! Metals are late to the party, now is about the time to get in! Imo Technicals DO work there so look up ...more

I know it frustrates the impatient says Triggerman. Have you looked at the ten year chart?  There has been nothing BUT patience lol.
Comment by Triggerman on Dec 08, 2021 1:58pm
Hey Wilander , I entered Quarterhill around $1.30 so the the folks who bought in at 5 or 7 bucks , I'd say work on your entry points .  There's been plenty of opportunity to avg down , its not like this name is going belly up.  The dividend has been great for me , 3% discounted share instead of cash.    At the end of the day , if I hated a company and felt there ...more

Ah so its not patience like you preached. Its trading and averaging down, buying and selling, in and out.   Got it.  ;)
Comment by Lazaros on Dec 08, 2021 2:34pm
You sure about that? As far as I am aware, QTRH does not offer a DRIP. You can enroll in a Direct purchase plan (dpp) through your broker where they buy shares at market prices, but no 3% discount as far as I am aware.  I stand to be corrected but this is news to me.

Thanks for the answer. it's funny because I entered into Reitmans at $0.52 In September and been adding since. I'm 98% sure they will come out of that situation.
Comment by Triggerman on Dec 09, 2021 2:36am
Birder , congrats , you've made a great trade that took guts to buy when no one wanted it.  I love that style.  That said , Jeremy Reitman literally lied to my face and I would never go back.  Management is everything.   plus , because every woman I know primarily shops online , I'll never buy a brick and mortar retailer again.  I know they have online ...more

I'm just in until they clear bankruptcy and publish earnings. It's still speculative.

Do your own DD but if you are willing to take a flyer on a tiny gold co. look at toma gold, cash on hand, holds shares in IMG, pacton, goliath , 2 agreements that call for a total of $half million to be paid to toma if one property has a 750,00 resource est. $ half million on another at 250,000 resource est. Warrants on Goliath that are in the money and tra ding for less than that value

You double your portfolio every year? You must be trading off V_G's technical analysis to have avoided regressing to the mean. You are now officially the best investor on earth. Congrats.

bs is pretty cheap, and Triggerman has lots of it
Comment by byloselhir on Dec 09, 2021 8:30am
me too, i think i have been in about 10 years i usually do the drip on my stocks when the price is low then take cash at the higher range to cut my cost, sell a bit at the hi buy back low i don't look at ACB i look at what my out of pocket cost is,i was "forced" into buy and hold because only full service when i started and $150+ to buy and $150+ to sell...... times have changed
