having myself worked at a bank and then transitioning to independent shops, i fully understand the desire of IAs to stay with independents but

i honestly think the fear of mass attrition should rcg one day find itself in hands of larger player are overblown. one of the understandings given rcg's model where IAs have so little skin in the game (vs say wholly employee owned odlum) is that they accept that one day the business could be sold

but a bank or lifeco need not convert rcg into some inhouse distribution channel for bunch of overpriced products and services

they could very easily maintain rcg as some kind of inhouse independent manager that doesnt compromise IAs intergrity

and yet still have it wildly accretive to the acquiring firm and seek cross selling and other opportunities that are tolerable to the IAs and their clients
