Canada as the 51st State of the US....Greenland?

Canada as the 51st State of the US....Greenland?Lots of talk about this with Trump being Trump.

BUT....what are the actual mechanics for this to actually happen?

Here is a piece I found which covers stuff that the gtalking heads in the media don't discuss or i suspect even know about..

The other thing is whether this would actually be a good thing for the Republicans...

Notwithstanding what is likely to happen Federally in Canada in the next election due to Trudeau, the fact of the matter is that the Liberals since Confederation have been the natural ruling party of Canada ( they were in power 70 of the 100 years in the 1900s) fIf this history were to continue then in the US Canada would have the second most Electoral College votes (after California).  Two senators and 45 seats in the House which would be Democrats most of the time.  This would not be good for republicans.  Also following this, is that with all the electoral college votes that Canada would have, the democrats would only need to 2 of the swing states instead of 5 to win the presidency.

So while this whole thing is unlikely to happen, it even more unlikely that republican senators would support it if they follow the above logic (or did the math).

Greenland would be easier since all that is required is for Denmark to decide that they don't need Greenland anymore (and there are lots of people in Denmark that feel this way) then all the US would need to do is negotiate a "real estate" transaction with Denmark...a much simpler process Constitutionally compared to Canada becoming part of the US.
