There must be a board that caters to lunatics, jesus freaks, cult members, tarrot card readers and the like....maybe you would make some friends there?

I wondered how long you could resist expressing your feelings Metal... glad to see your confirmation bias is still intact.
Comment by metalhead666 on Dec 16, 2021 2:28pm
I should know better...You can reason someone out of something they arrived at without reason.
Comment by Cognition777 on Dec 16, 2021 2:44pm
touche Metal. I read all of your posts and agree with the majority of them (TA topic being the exception, obviously). I would, however, distinguish, reason from fact.. Technical Analysis (like fundamental analysis) is anchored on reason. If a distinct chart pattern historically follows another distinct chart pattern 65% of the time, this would be a fact. Making a investment decision based on ...more

It is not a FACT. It's BS 1. If ANYTHING followed a predictable "pattern" then everyone would front run the expected rendering it moot 2. If ANYTHING had a win rate of 65% then you would be richer than Musk. You can demonstrate empirically exactly NOTHING to support your baseless claim. It is religious...not dependent upon actual evidence but "faith" and "belief ...more

As I said, Metal... "Any argument one might use to dsimiss TA can be applied to FA as well, or any other investment decision based on your own personal reasons."
Comment by metalhead666 on Dec 17, 2021 12:50am
Fundamental analysis isn't based upon any personal experience.  Pounds produced, supply and demand, cost of production etc can be modeled with empirical data.  Lines and geometric shapes on a graph are exactly the same as seeing shapes in a cloud. And then there's "randomness" which makes all t/a useless. No "pattern" you perceived from some date in the past ...more

You use a lot of words to simply say that you, "make a random guess on what the market will do in the future based on patterns of human behaviour from the past when they faced situations similar to the current situations that you are aware of and consider relevant". What you skipped saying, is that there are waaaay more factors driving the market than your tiny mind can possibly ...more

WRONG!!!  A chart tells only what something DID, WAS, HAS BEEN ..all past tense telling you absolutely nothing about what ANY human behavior will be in the future.
Comment by Cognition777 on Dec 17, 2021 10:03am
which is EXACTLY my point. YOU are also looking at what investor behaviour DID, WAS, HAS BEEN when facing past factors similar to whatever you consider relevant current factors... extrapolating PAST behaviour into current situations and pretending you can predict the future based on your interpretation of PAST investor behaviour when facing similar situations is even less useful than seeing past ...more

WRONG! as always. When I bought lithium and copper stocks 2 years ago it wasn't because any chart showed anything.  When I bought I did so because the EMPIRICAL data was screaming that it was a monumental cultural shift supported by government, urged on by climate change and endorsed by all the future users to build their cars, busses, trucks, planes and boats with.  Had NOTHING to ...more

Fundamental analysis is only as applicable as people are willing to consider it when buying and selling. In the end the price of a stock is based solely on people's willingness to buy it.  That willingness can be based on greed, fear, reason, voodoo, or any other reason. Just look at the meme stocks.  The hope is that reason will reign when emotion dissipates but it does not always ...more

That's absolutely true.  There are NO natural laws governing stock prices or valuations. They are entirely subjective. There's no law stating that a PE of 10 or 90 is the right metric. Same goes for every other so called valuation metric. This is particularly true now a days when meme stocks and momentum chasing and algorithms dominate.  There are however relative valuations ...more
