When the Fed raises interest rates gold will drop further

(Kitco News) - The sell-off in the gold market is accelerating as midday approaches Friday. Prices are sharply lower and hit a nine-week low as heavy technical selling is featured, including sell stop orders being triggered on the way down. Fundamentally, a robust U.S. jobs report Friday morning has many market watchers now thinking the Federal Reserve will move to raise U.S. interest rates sooner rather than later--possibly as soon as June. The other major bearish element for the gold and silver markets is the strong rally in the U.S. dollar index, which hit an 11.5-year high on Friday. April Comex gold futures were last down $23.80 an ounce at $1,172.30.

I value all opinions because I believe in never stopping to learn. With all current events such as the Mideast crisis, Iran and nukes, Ukraine and Russian sanctions, world debt increasing while world GDP decreasing and I could go on but you get the message. What about a black swan or oil derivitives? The world is in a deflationary environment and the Fed wants to raise rates? That kills their 2 ...more

It is the U.S Fed's hints at raising interest rates. They can't remain at zero forever. This is a global economy now as in 1929 China, India and the rest of Asia was non existent to the markets.
