forever for us old guys. There is nothing wrong with owning sunset companies as long as you get out in time.  I owned yellow pages while it was a dividend machine and got out just in time. Gas is on its way out quickly.

What makes you say gas is on its way out?
Comment by RJboxer on Sep 10, 2023 10:59am
Yea, that makes zero sense.  NG will clearly play a significant role in the world's energy future, whether that be as a key hydrocarbon or a major component of electricity generation.

just as the yellow pages went out of style,  so will nat gas.  https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.epa.gov/energy/greenhouse-gases-equivalencies-calculator-calculations-and-references%23:~:text%3DThe%2520average%2520carbon%2520dioxide%2520coefficient,gallon%2520barrel%2520(EPA%25202022).&ved=2ahUKEwiXvdvkzaKBAxXtk2oFHUX ...more

Those numbers clearly tell me that NG is a clean burning fuel when compared with other fuel sources which bodes well all the more so for the future  The demand for energy will only increase with a growing population and the growing economies of Asia i don't see how those numbers translate to "gas on its way out" BTW comparing yellow pages and commodities seems disjointed

People stopped using yellow pages because something  better came along. Natural gas may be better than coal or oil, but it still causes greenhouse gases.  Building a new power plant running on gas costs more than solar or wind,  so Natural gas is in its twilight years. You can still make money from it, but the end is near. 2 years? 20?
Comment by Lupuslupus on Sep 11, 2023 10:54am
Looks like this is where our thinking diverges Solar and wind cause greenhouse gases as well - think of the materials required to manufacture components to those facilities, never mind the dependency on having constant favourable conditions to produce power from those means Im not saying we won't implement other  means of energy, but what I will say is we will always be using some ...more
