Oil shock and awe surge will lead to demand destruction

For oily bulls, be careful what you wish for. These EXTREME surge in oil prices ($124 WTI and $130 brent) with no end in sight is unsustainable. High oil prices will eventually lead to demand destruction and will end up with oil prices crashing. Can't tell you when but it will happen. GLTA.

Demand destruction does not happen overnight. Pirices go up behavior changes, prices drop. Of course if it causes a mega recession it will crash.

Demand destruction works slowly no doubt and especially when its an integral part of the global economy.   EV's are still not mainstream and the world is not ready to do away with plastics so realistically there isn't much of a practical alternative. The problem now is that the industry has been starved from investment capital and discouraged by negativity and is bloated with debt so ...more
